Tithi: Navami

Navami Tithi

Navami is the ninth day of the lunar fortnight. Known as a "Rikta" (empty) Tithi, it is a day of great power but requires careful handling as its energy is often intense and transformative.

Symbolism and Meaning

Navami represents the culmination of the "Rikta" cycle. It symbolizes the destruction of the old to make way for the new. It is a day of fierce energy and determination. While it is generally avoided for soft or creative beginnings, it is considered highly potent for overcoming obstacles and defeating negativity.

Ruling Deity: Goddess Durga

The presiding deity of Navami is Goddess Durga (specifically her Maha Navami form). Durga represents the invincible power that destroys demons and restores balance. Navami is the day to invoke the strength of the Divine Mother to conquer internal and external enemies. Rama Navami (the birth of Lord Rama) and Maha Navami (the penultimate day of Durga Puja) are the most sacred observances on this Tithi.

Auspicious Activities

• Protection: Performing rituals for protection and safety.
• Courageous Acts: Engaging in activities that require bravery and strength.
• Legal Matters: Dealing with conflicts, litigation, or competitive challenges.
• Spiritual Warfare: Chanting mantras to Goddess Durga to remove negative influences and "evil eye."
