Vijaya Ekadashi

Vijaya Ekadashi

Vijaya Ekadashi falls during the Krishna Paksha of the Magha month (or Phalguna in some calendars).

Meaning and Significance

As the name 'Vijaya' suggests, this Ekadashi is specifically observed for gaining victory over difficult challenges or formidable enemies. It is historically linked to Lord Rama's quest to defeat Ravana.

Lord Rama and Vijaya Ekadashi

Before building the bridge to Lanka, Lord Rama was advised by Sage Bakadalabhya to observe the Vijaya Ekadashi Vrat. By the power of this fast, Rama was able to cross the ocean and eventually conquer Ravana. Hence, this day is highly significant for those facing immense obstacles.
